High Frontier 19

Make plans to join Tulsa Rocketry and the Pawhuska Chamber of Commerce for High Frontier 19. The launch will take place September 23 and September 24, 2023. The Pawhuska Municipal Airport will again be the location for this launch. Lots to see and do; it will be fun for the whole family. Same as last year, there will on-site camping allowed. Bring your RV, tent, ect but there are no hook-ups at the airport. Generators are allowed but keep in mind if the generator is to loud during launch you may be asked to turn it off. Check out www.pawhuskachamber.com and visittheosage.com for area details and lodging. Directions to Pawhuska can be found here.

For the third year we will have the One Mile Challenge contest. This contest is open to any flyer and the goal is to get as close to one mile as possible. You can fly any rocket you like on any single motor you like with a commercial altimeter recording your altitude. You can find the contest rules here.

Kids under 18 fly free when accompanied by a parent. Launch fees for adult fliers are $20 for the whole weekend. All adult fliers must be members of either Tripoli or NAR. Spectators are welcome and watching the launch is free and a lot of fun.

The range will open both Saturday and Sunday at 9:00 a.m. and close at 5:00 p.m. both days. We have an FAA waiver to 17,000 feet AGL. Simulations are required for any flights over 12,000 feet AGL. Please submit your simulations to the Prefect. All simulations must be performed with RASAero, which can be downloaded here. The launch will be conducted under TRA safety rules.

This year we are again having a Night Launch. The night launch will begin at approximately 8:00 p.m. on Saturday. We will only be allowing A through G motors for the night launch. Remember to fly as many lights on your night rocket as possible, and don’t forget to bring a flashlight as well.

For youth fliers under age 18, there will be a “Closest to the Buffalo” contest each day. We will also be having drawings for door prizes and rocket kits. We expect to give away over 40 kits during the weekend. Some will be ready to fly (no assembly required), some will be almost ready to fly (mostly snap-together), and a few will require glue and some adult help to build, but all will be cool. The drawing is open to all children under the age of 18.

On Saturday afternoon at 3:30 PM, we will be having our Big Daddy Drag Race and on Sunday morning at 9 AM we will be having our Warloc Drag Race and Minnie Magg Drag Race.

There will be concessions available on site along with HobbyTown USA with model rockets and motors. We will not have a high power motor dealer on site this year.
