Discover the Natural Beauty of Osage Hills State Park
Located just East of Pawhuska in the heart of the Osage Nation in northeast Oklahoma, Osage Hills State Park showcases the state's natural beauty. With its lush forests, rocky bluffs, and serene waters, the park spans 1,100 acres of stunning scenery. A fall visit reveals a breathtaking transformation as the foliage turns vibrant shades of yellow, orange, and red.
For outdoor enthusiasts, Osage Hills offers a range of activities. Trails wind through rocky, hilly terrain, providing a satisfying challenge for hikers and mountain bikers. Wildlife sightings, including white-tailed deer and wild turkeys, add to the adventure. Visitors can also enjoy tennis courts, a ball field, and a refreshing swim in the park’s pool.
Fishing is a popular pastime here, with Lookout Lake and Sand Creek offering opportunities to catch bass, crappie, catfish, and sunfish. Fishing boats are available for rent at the lake.
The park accommodates overnight visitors with RV sites equipped with water and electricity, tent sites, and unique canvas wall tents pitched on wooden platforms. Reservations for all camping spots must be made online. Additionally, Osage Hills features eight native stone cabins, built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s, each with modern amenities, central heating and air, fireplaces, and pet-friendly options.
Picnic areas, pavilions, comfort stations, and modern bathhouses are scattered throughout the park, enhancing the camping experience. For larger gatherings, a group camp is available, complete with a dining hall, commercial kitchen, and nine bunkhouses capable of accommodating up to 118 people.
Whether you’re hiking the trails, camping under the stars, fishing in the 18-acre lake, or cooling off in the swimming pool, Osage Hills State Park offers a peaceful retreat filled with natural wonders and recreational activities for everyone to enjoy.
